XSCC20 Blow-up
[to XSCC20 page 2]
OricomTech Bot-CoP Servo Control Computers are designed for controlling multiple R/C servos and small mobile robotic devices. Up to 20 servos can be controlled via a single RS-232 serial port. This is enough capability for most robotic walker and animatronic devices. Firmware is upgradeable.

The XSCC20 Servo Control Computer uses the BOT40-II Controller Board as a platform. It has basic core elements of power supply, cpu, RS-232 port and serial eeprom, as well as a large prototyping area that can be customized for many different types of applications. The board can interface up to 20 Futaba-pinout R/C servos. It also has space to add a 5-Amp voltage regulator for driving a limited number of servos.

XSCC20 Commands
New features in firmware version 2.0 (01.2005)
  • new binary command format: (escapecode, servo#, pulsewidth), etc.
  • both 1-usec and 4-usec pulsewidth resolution binary commands.
  • binary commands set ramping speeds.
  • storable configuration: baudrate, enabled servos, servo starting positions, etc.
  • servo cycling mode - for servo testing.
Original firmware support:
  • control up to 20 servos.
  • 255 ramping speeds.
  • up to 29 digital I/O lines.
  • up to 8 A/D channels.
  • powerful ASCII Command Set.

    General Features

  • servo support:
  • ---- interface up to 20 R/C servos - 3-pin Futaba pinout (signal, power, gnd).
  • ---- set pulsewidths from 500 - 2500 usec, with 1 usec resolution.
  • ---- select individually-controlled ramping velocities, from 2 - 500 usec/step.
  • ---- select servo update periods, from 10 - 30 msec (default = 20 msec).
  • ---- servos updated sequentially - all servos updated within 20 msec.
  • alternate I/O:
  • ---- allocate up to 29 lines for digital I/O.
  • ---- 8 A/D conversion channels (10-bit), available while simultaneously driving up to 20 servos.
  • special features:
  • ---- software incorporates a low battery voltage shutdown feature.
  • ---- external trigger sources can be used to enable servo operation.
  • pcb features:
  • ---- pcb mounts (2) TO-220 voltage regulators, with heat sink.
  • ---- prototyping area for custom circuitry - allows addition of discrete components, sensors, conditioning circuitry, etc.
  • board communications:
  • ---- RS-232 at 1200 - 115200 bps.
  • ---- interface via DB09-F connector.
  • ---- simple and powerful ASCII command set.

    Power

  • input power 8-15 vdc at 20 mA for controller.
  • 5 vdc, 1-Amp, TO-220 regulator used for logic, driving external sensors, etc.
  • power for servos normally provided from off-board.
  • pcb has space to add a 5-Amp voltage regulator for driving a limited number of servos.
  • includes space for heat-sinks on both regulators.

    Physical

  • 3.0" x 3.6" (76 x 91 mm), industrial-quality double-sided FR4 pcb with heavy buss traces, plated-through holes, solder masks and silk-screens.
  • mounting hole at each corner (#4 screw).
